How to change system language in Debian (and Ubuntu)

So you just got your new hosted server from your german provider, they send you the credentials to get in and when you log in it says.... Guten Tag !

Oops, let's teach this machine how to speak english (or any other language, of course).

Changing the system language on a Debian box is a very easy and fast operation.
Two steps:

  1. Reconfigure the locales generated on the system
    Just type:

    dpkg-reconfigure locales
